African Joy

I’m back in the US after several weeks in South Africa and Ethiopia. I have a long list of subjects I want to write about–I saw a lot–but unfortunately right now I lack the time to write about them. I’ll get to it, probably in about a week. I guess it’s a good problem.

Just one general observation: the word “Africa” tends to connote frustration, poverty and tragedy. Indeed, Africa offers plenty of all three. What almost never gets transmitted, but what every guest in Africa soon recognizes, is African joy.
